Who are you guys?
Dance 4U is a Vancouver based dance school established in 2006. Originally focused on latin dancing it now offer a wide range of dance and fitness classes in several different locations around the GVRD. If you are looking to learn how to dance, get in shape, choreography for a wedding, performance for your corporate/private event and/or help with creating an event then look no further.
What if I have never danced before or I have two left feet?
Then welcome to Dance 4U. Our beginner classes are designed for people just like you. Our teaching method focuses not just on learning but also on creating a fun & comfortable non-intimidating atmosphere. Let us inspire and motivate you as you begin your dance journey.
Do I need a partner?
No you don't, but if you have one that is OK too. We welcome individuals, couples and groups to our classes. We also rotate partners in all our classes so you will have many partners do learn and dance with. This is another way in which we enhance learning and create a fun, social atmosphere.
Why rotate dance partners during class?
Salsa is a social dance and we imagine you'd like to meet people and get to know other people in your class. Changing partners makes you a better dancer as it ensures you develop the ability to lead and follow with all. Everyone is an individual and leads or follows in slightly different ways. It gives everyone the opportunity to come to class even if numbers are not exactly matched along a leader/follower split. Finally, doing the occasional round without a partner gives you a chance to observe the teachers/others more closely and check your own progress.
How should I dress?
You do not need to wear anything special to take our classes (with the exception of our fitness class). Dress comfortably or in what makes you feel like dancing. Also check out our gallery page to see some of our classes.
Do I need special shoes?
You do not need to purchase special dance shoes for your first set of lessons. You do need to wear shoes that have slippery soles such as leather or plastic (rubber soles will stick to the hardwood floors and can be difficult to spin). Also try to make them comfortable as you will be standing for an hour in each class. If you decide to continue you learning we do recommend investing in some dance shoes. For more info contact us.
Can I watch a class before signing up?
Absolutely. Just send us an email and let us know when you want to drop by. However, we recommend participating if you are unhappy with your experience the class will be free of charge.
do you offer drop ins?
Yes, for all classes potential students are welcome to try a class with Dance 4U. Our drop-in fee is $15 and should you choose to sign up afterward that amount will be credited towards the full amount of your course series. Drop-ins for Beginner level are only allowed for the first 2 classes of the course.
Our Friday Night Open Level Salsa class is also open to drop-ins, but is intended for people who have at least 5 months of dance experience or have taken Salsa Beginner & Intermediate With Dance 4U.

What if I miss a class?
You are welcome to attend any other class equivalent during that series (i.e signed up for salsa beginner series Wednesday miss a class attend salsa beginner Friday class). If there is no other class that fits you are welcome to do one of our Dance Fitness classes. The key is if you miss a class do not stop coming to the series. We always do review at the beginning of class giving you a chance to catch up.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you let us know before the first class that you are unable to make a series you have signed up and paid for you can:
#1) Pay $15 administration charge and receive refund
#2) Receive credit for a 3 month period.
If you contact us after series begin there will be no refund offered.

Do you have gift certificates?
We offer gift certificates in any denomination. Recommend:
$18 - first time drop-in
$80 - private lesson
$140 - 5 week dance series for 2 people

Do you do Weddings?
Yes, in fact its one of our specialties. From your first dance, to a fun wedding party choreography we can accommodate any request. One of the advantages of choosing Dance 4U is that our teachers have a wide range of dance styles for you to choose from. Therefore if you want a cheesy dance, hip hop routine or romantic first dance or a mix of both Dance 4U will have just the right instructor for you. Do you do private events?
Yes, dance 4U has a pool of professional dancers and performers for private events. Our talented performers can come as pairs or groups in a variety of dance styles based on your needs. Dance 4U has done team building classes for corporate retreats as well as performances and fun classes for a variety of social corporate events.
