Beware an over eagerness to correct or teach. This is often meant to be helpful, but often ends up being offensive. When someone cannot follow your leads consider whether or not anyone else has been able to follow the sequence (especially someone who is not from the class where you learned to combo). Also remember that even a simple move has layers and while you might be able to lead it know that does not mean you cannot lead it even better.
As a follower this is also the case. Remember that we are all learning and be wary of the “I can dance if he knows how to lead” mentality. As an experiences leader this means that I cannot fully enjoy my dance because I have to have be much stronger with my follow. The best followers need very little in the way of lead as the muscle memory from experience allows you to know whats going on. Before you start blaming or correcting evaluate yourself and ask if they want feedback. Save yourself embarrassment and don’t be “that guy” or “that girl”. Have fun, enjoy the moment for what it is and don’t be too hard on yourself (we all started somewhere) and don’t forget to always thank your partner for the dance. You can’t go wrong being polite.
